Cosmetic Acupuncture
Beauty From The Inside Out

What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine have been used for centuries in China to preserve vibrant, youthful skin. Cosmetic Acupuncture also known as Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is the contemporary application of this ancient wisdom, enhancing both physical appearance and general health. Whilst it may be used to improve a wide variety of skin conditions, it is most commonly used as an anti-ageing treatment.
Cosmetic Acupuncture requires no incisions, acid peels or radical changes to underlying facial structure. A safe, natural alternative to invasive cosmetic surgery and Botox injections, it is rapidly growing in popularity in the West, and regularly being used by celebrities such as Madonna, Angelina Jolie, Demi Moore and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Cosmetic Acupuncture is the most effective chemical free anti-aging therapy available.  Research published in 1996 in the International Journal of Acupuncture reported that following only a single course of treatment, 90% of the 300 cases treated with Cosmetic Acupuncture had marked improvements to their skin including diminished wrinkles, improved skin tone and an overall rejuvenated complexion.

How does it work?

Cosmetic Acupuncture allows facial muscles to relax, encouraging local healing and rejuvenation of the skin. It promotes blood circulation and an increase in collagen proteins.  This results in greater cell regeneration and elasticity of the facial skin, averting signs of ageing, and the development of wrinkles and fine lines.  It balances internal energy or qi, and promotes overall wellbeing, with no risk of disfigurement or unnatural restructuring. There may, however, be occasional slight bruising, which very quickly subsides. In addition, many people report the benefits of improved digestion, sleep and numerous conditions caused by qi imbalance.

What does it treat?

•    Face & neck wrinkles
•    Forehead furrows
•    Frown & laughter lines
•    Crows feet
•    Eyes: drooping lids, puffy bags  & dark rings
•    Sagging skin & muscles
•    Dark age spots and facial discolouration
•    Oily, dry or dull complexion
•    Red or blotchy skin tone
•    Eczema, acne, rosacea

What is involved in the treatment?

The first visit will include a free consultation where your medical history and skin-care regime will be discussed in detail and your individual treatment plan formulated. Facial rejuvenation therapy involves an integrated body and facial treatment.  Facial cleansing, body & facial needles, gentle facial acupressure and massage all form an integral part of the treatment and may be supported by a variety of other techniques, including qigong channel massage, jade roller detoxification, gua sha stimulation and cupping.  Advice may be given on diet and lifestyle and herbal remedies often recommended as part of a complete health and beauty program.
How long does it take to work?
A course usually involves between 6–12 treatments with sessions taking place once or twice weekly. The initial course may be followed by regular maintenance sessions to boost and sustain the beneficial effects of the initial therapy. Response to treatment varies and is dependant upon age, general health, diet and lifestyle and skin-care regime.

How long is each Session and how much does it cost?

The initial session takes up to 2 hours with follow up sessions lasting up to 90 minutes. Cost per session - £75

Who should avoid it?

Cosmetic Acupuncture is contraindicated for those people suffering with raised blood pressure, or regular migraine headaches and should not be undertaken during pregnancy or an outbreak of herpes.
